Chic summer weddings on the water are some of my favorite and this elegant Belle Haven Club affair in Greenwich, CT was no exception! I was thrilled to capture Mary and Andrew’s wedding for Brooke Allison Photography Studio and was joined by Lindsay Comer and Julia D’Agostino who helped capture every sweet moment. Together we witnessed Mary and Andrew tie the knot in a picture-perfect setting while basking in the love of their family and friends. It was a dream.
Getting Ready and Bridal Details
Mary and Andrew had a beautiful July day for their wedding. All of the details and decor for their day were planned and styled to perfection by the incredibly talented ladies of Stella Day Events. Mary chose lovely bridal details to show off her classic style. Her stunning gown was from A Little Something White. Her gorgeous hair was done by Milexy Couture and her flawless makeup by Aliza Noelle. She got ready with her mom and sister and all of her ladies (including four of the cutest little flower girls!) at the Belle Haven Club while Andrew and the groomsmen prepped and relaxed nearby. The day was incredibly chic but also warm, casual, and fun because Mary and Andrew are so incredibly warm, genuine, and fun-loving. Andrew wrote Mary a letter that she opened before putting on her dress and it made her absolutely giddy. She was smiling from ear-to-ear and after reading it looked up and said, “I am so in love with him!” It was one of countless moments that overflowed with love and joy throughout the day.
The Ceremony: Saying “I Do”
Mary and Andrew’s little flower girls were SO adorable! They each wore flower crowns of fresh blooms for the day and dropped white rose petals down the aisle. It’s safe to say they stole the show a few times throughout the day! The soft peach tones of the florals by McArdle’s Florist of Greenwich accented the sea foam blue hue of the bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly. The full effect was lovely to see when they were all lined up to witness Mary and Andrew saying “I do”. Throughout the ceremony Andrew kept making Mary laugh and the goofy and silly love they share shone through. The bird’s eye view of the ceremony is such a great one at the Belle Haven Club thanks to the windows in the bridal suite that overlook the lawn. Having a second (and third in this case) photographer for the day allowed us to capture this great angle. But nothing beats the looks on Mary and Andrew’s faces right after their first kiss – how great was their reaction!?!
Bridal Party & Newlywed Portraits
Mary and Andrew did not want to see each other before the ceremony, but they also wanted to get to at least some of their cocktail hour to party with their guests. So we did some of their family portraits before the ceremony, along with their bridal party portraits that were separate (think Mary and the ladies and Andrew and the guys!). After the ceremony we took photos of the full bridal party and finished family portraits. Then we did some couples portraits and saved the rest for a bit later when the sun was closer to setting. This way, Mary and Andrew got to spend some of cocktail hour with all of their loved ones and still had beautiful portraits.
First Dance and Toasts by Candlelight
The beautiful sail cloth tent from Greenwich Tent and the flowers accented by candles got even prettier as the sun went down and the candles began to glow. The look was made complete with rentals from Smith Party Rentals. Mary and Andrew’s first dance was sweet and fun and they got all of their wedding guests out on the dance floor with them before sitting down for dinner. The Maid of Honor and Best Man gave funny and touching toasts, but I have to say my favorite toast of the night was from Andrew himself. He shared several moments in which he realized how wonderful Mary was and how much he loved her, all leading up to the moment he knew he wanted to marry her. Andrew is a great storyteller and his speech was funny, sweet, made Mary laugh, and made the whole tent full of people cry at just how very much in love they are.
Congratulations you two! XOXO
