The Luckiest Couple

Jill and Ben held their wedding at the rustic Trailside Inn in Killington, VT over Labor Day weekend. They really wanted their friends and family to be able to enjoy time together, to really see their guests and spend time with them over the course of the long weekend, and provide lots of opportunities for worship and celebration of their faith and their love. Along with their wedding guests, they rented the entire Trailside Inn from Friday-Monday and held their wedding on Sunday. Friday and Saturday were sunny and gorgeous, and they were blessed with a generous dose of good luck on Sunday for their actual wedding! They say rain is good luck on your wedding day and that means that Jill and Ben are the luckiest couple I know! It rained buckets all day long on Sunday and they smiled, hugged, kissed, danced, laughed, and happy cried through all of it. They collected every ounce of that good luck and shared it with all of their friends and family. It was an emotional and joyful day and I was honored to be part of it.

Their First Look & Why A Rain Plan Is A Must

Ben and Jill really wanted to enjoy every minute of the ceremonies and celebrations they had planned so they did their first look and took all of their formal portraits before the ceremony. After Jill and the ladies finished up with Blush Salon & Beauty Lounge for their gorgeous hair and makeup, we held a first look between Jill and Ben. The Trailside Inn has a lovely covered entryway and we used it for all of their portraits as a couple and with their bridal party so we could take advantage of the soft natural light and keep everyone dry. New England weather is fickle! And these two had an easy and convenient rain plan built into their day so the rain never put a damper on the festivities. This is such a good takeaway for anyone getting married outside in New England – make sure you have a rain plan just in case! Its always better to plan for it and not need it, than to tempt fate and stress out on your wedding day!

Anyway, Ben and Jill are so very much in love. They absolutely immersed themselves in the moment when they saw each other. They held each other, they whispered together, they laughed and got emotional. They were so sweet and so natural that when I finally had to step in and keep the day moving, I felt bad breaking the tender silence and their locked eyes. It was an incredibly powerful moment to witness two people so deeply in love and so completely happy and focused on each other. Forgetting the rain, forgetting the photographers, forgetting the chill in the air, they were just overjoyed to be together and to be getting married. It was lovely.

Tisch Reception & Ketubah Signing

After portraits, the party moved inside the inn’s great room for the tisch reception and ketubah signing. These were such special pieces of the day with Ben and Jill shoulder-to-shoulder, side-by-side, surrounded literally by their loved ones. For those who may not know, the reception was absolutely brimming with love and joy as family and friends sang, cheered, encouraged, and gave Ben a bit of hard time all in good fun. I love the beaming faces and belly laughs that made this part of the day so special.

Wedding Ceremony Under the Tent

As the rain came down, the wedding guests filed into the tent for the ceremony. The lanterns were giving a soft glow to the tent and the florals designed by Pittsfield Garden Center helped create a simple and rustic atmosphere for the ceremony. Their parents joined them under the huppa as they said their vows.

First Dance & Reception Fun

Ben and Jill knew how to make an entrance! How great is the confetti and archway they entered the reception through?! Digital DJ kept the dance floor packed and guests danced the night away. A delicious meal was served up by Vermont Farms Catering and along with their wedding cake they served pie! Amy of Amy Weiss Design created their wedding logo that appeared throughout the day on their ceremony programs and maple syrup bottles that also served as place cards. Congratulations Jill and Ben! XO
