Liz and Nick’s summer wedding at The Villa was truly an elegant affair. Liz loves a bit of glamour and the Villa provided the perfect setting for the wedding she and Nick were dreaming of. These two are an amazing couple, are ridiculously sweet together, and have an incredibly strong love. I saw it from the very first minute I met up with them for their Plymouth engagement session – check out those photos here! They were introduced by a mutual friend when Liz was in her senior year of college. It wasn’t quite love at first sight – but almost! They became fast friends and started dating and it soon evolved into a strong love. Liz described how they et and fell in love in this way: “I can’t say there was an exact moment in time where I knew I loved Nick, rather, I think the spark was there the second we met and that spark eventually turned into a fire.” Nick’s in the military and spent about a year or so of their first few years together stationed a plane ride away from Liz. So they figured out how to make their relationship work, even in the face of some challenges, very early on as they navigated long distance. They credit that time as the opportunity that really strengthened their relationship.

Boston Engagement: Their Snowy Proposal Story

When it came time to propose, Nick worked with Liz’s Mom to have Liz’s grandmother’s diamond reset. So her engagement ring is not only beautiful, but incredibly sentimental as well. Nick took Liz out for a night in Boston. They went to dinner together and enjoyed each other’s company. After dinner they strolled through Boston Common as it started to snow. They made their way to the top of the hill, where there is a large statue on the Common and Nick got down on one knee and popped the question! Liz was thrilled but the surprises didn’t end there. Nick had arranged for their families to be in on the surprise and they were waiting at home to celebrate with Liz and Nick when they made their way back from Boston later that evening! Although the snow was romantic, they opted for a warmer season for engagement photos and we had a great time on a warm evening in Plymouth.

Getting Ready

Liz got ready with her girls and her mom. She had her mom and her maid of honor help her into her dress. Her Morilee gown from was fitted and beaded with a flair at the bottom. It fit her like a glove and wait until you scroll down – she was a stunning bride! Like I said, she loves a touch of glamour, and her makeup with a bold lip, and side-swept loose curls accented by a sparkly headpiece definitely delivered on the glamour thanks to Cristina Mastro! Meanwhile, Nick and the guys enjoyed a toast together as they got ready and helped Nick prep for his first look.

First Look At The Villa

Liz and Nick opted for a first look so they could take care of photos early and spend their full reception enjoying with their guests. And they really wanted to see each other before their ceremony and spend more of their day together – which I can totally relate to because Scott and I opted for a first look for the same reasons! And their first few moments together at The Villa did not disappoint! Liz turned Nick around and they were both instantly smiling from ear to ear, holding hands, kissing, stepping back to take each other in, and filling each other in on the day of getting ready before they saw each other. They honestly could have stayed there all day I think just being incredibly happy together – but I had to jump in and get them moving for photos! We did couples portraits and then bridal party portraits and ended with family photos before they took a break and Liz hid for the ceremony. The Villa has beautiful grounds and I was pretty much in heaven capturing Liz and Nick with their friends and family. They were all so lovely and fun and positive!

Outdoor Ceremony at The Villa

Liz and Nick incorporated family into all aspects of their day and their ceremony was no exception. Liz’s sister-in-law officiated the ceremony and told sweet and funny stories for the most emotional and lovely tribute to the Liz and Nick’s relationship. Two family members did readings and Liz’s brother sang a song in the middle of the ceremony. He has an amazing voice! They also had beautiful instrumental music by The Trillium Trio. The ceremony was perfectly back lit and the white draping framed them perfectly – it was a gorgeous day and the venue really allowed that day, and the bride and groom, to shine. And ummm, the first kiss?! Epic! XO

Party Time: Grand Ballroom Reception

Liz and Nick created an elegant glam vibe for their reception in the Grand Ballroom with silver candelabras and lush florals by Perro’s Flowers, and textured shimmery linens. They also had the amazingly talented Matty B Entertainment keep the dance floor packed! Both the Maid of Honor and Best Man gave sweet and funny toasts before Liz’s dad got up to toast the couple as well. And later in the evening Liz’s mom led all the guests in a traditional dance around the room and out into the cocktail space. And the final sweet reveal – Liz’s mom and family members baked dozens and dozens of cookies for a cookie bar the likes of which I have never seen! It accompanied the delicious cake from Just Desserts Bakery & Cafe. And it was great fun to capture it all alongside Artistic Impressions Productions and Mark de Silva a he painted a scene from the ceremony throughout the evening.
