The Villa at Riddler Country Club is a wedding and event venue south of Boston located adjacent to a golf course in East Bridgewater so it’s surrounded by a lush green landscape. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing both an event and a wedding there and will be back again in May for a wedding and I’m excited to share some of my favorite things about the venue with all of you. Here are the top three reasons why I think The Villa is a great option for engaged couples:
1) The people! The Villa’s team is full of friendly people who love what they do, want to make your vision for your wedding a reality, and they’re nice to your other vendors.
Just look at that group of smiling fabulous people below! Every person I’ve worked with at The Villa, from their marketing department to the event coordinators, have been so friendly, calm, and positive. They truly seem to enjoy their jobs and that translates into incredible service and a positive experience for you and your guests. The chefs regularly update, add to, and tweak the menu. In fact, during the Spring event they rolled out some brand new options for people to try and sought feedback on them. The deep fried pickles appetizer were one of the new crowd pleasers! They also worked closely with my bride Liz over the summer to bring her elegant and glamorous vision for her wedding to life. You’ll see some examples below and can check out my full blog from Liz and Nick’s wedding here. They also worked with Liz to bring in hundreds – literally hundreds – of homemade cookies that were put out as an amazing dessert bar and favor for guests to sample and take with them. The cookies are a bit of a family tradition and the fact that The Villa honored that and helped create a beautiful cookie bar for Liz and Nick and their guests is just one example of how they strive to exceed couple’s expectations. And on a personal note as a vendor I can tell you that not every venue treats you well, but The Villa certainly does. They reached out in advance of the wedding to make sure I had any questions answered and on the day of they showed me some great options for sunset photos to make sure Liz and Nick made the most of golden hour. They checked in and made sure we were taken care of, just like they made sure the couple and their guests were taken care of.
2) The Villa is really thoughtful about light and ensuring every outdoor ceremony site and portrait location on their property has great light and a beautiful setting for saying your vows and having your photos taken.
As a photographer, one of the ways I see the world, especially on a wedding day, is the light. And so naturally one of my favorite things about The Villa is that each ceremony spot and portrait location have great afternoon light! For example, the pergola where Liz and Nick had t heir ceremony is positioned to be beautifully back lit by the sun during an afternoon ceremony. This means gorgeous lighting for the couple throughout the vows and first kiss and a warm glow on guests. Similarly, the spot we were in for photos was meticulously landscaped and beautiful, offered a diverse set of photo options all within one area, and offered both shade and direct sunlight to work with. It was a beautiful and inspiring spot for taking photos!
3) The three reception spaces are each beautiful and unique – so chances are one of them will match your style.
The Madera Ballroom offers vaulted ceilings with exposed beams for a more rustic feel. The room has not one, but impressive fireplaces that bookend the space and make for a cozy and intimate feel. The Spring event utilized one end of this room for a more intimate talk with the guest speaker and the fireplace set the perfect tone for a smaller group setting, even in the large room. The Grand Ballroom is modern and chic with a sleek fireplace built into one wall and new modern crystal chandeliers. It has an elegant vibe and a neutral palette accentuated by gold accents that will allow you to bring your unique vision to life in the room. Last but not least, I got to peek into the tent over the summer and it has a lovely draped ceiling complete with chandeliers for the perfect outdoor reception. Each room is unique and has it’s own dedicated cocktail hour space.
