Getting Ready
One of the many lovely things about the Dennis Inn is that it’s actually a working inn, along with a stunning wedding venue, so Kirsten and the ladies slept there the night before the wedding and got ready at the Inn that day. Alex and his groomsmen found an Air BnB nearby and were only a few minutes away – taking all of the stress of potential traffic out of the day. Kirsten had her hair and makeup done right on site by the ladies at Artworx Hair Design. Before they got into their dresses we grabbed some photos of them in the cutest pajamas ever – that Kirsten picked out for them! I love the hydrangeas and the colors matched flawlessly with Kirsten’s wedding colors – bonus! Because she had several close friends in her bridal party, Kirsten had just her mom and her Maid of Honor help her put on her dress and then had a sweet reveal with the rest of the ladies. She found her dress at Vows and the lace details were so pretty! Kirsten was an absolutely stunning bride and her bridesmaids’ expressions during the reveal show it! Alex and the guys wore gray suits and dusty blue ties. And Alex had special dinosaur cuff links – he’s a big fan of dinosaurs!
Ceremony
The ceremony was held in the back yard of the Inn. Alex added a sweet touch to the start by being walked down the aisle by his mom and dad. Then Kirsten made a grand entrance down the stairs of the inn, where she met her parents, who both walked her down the aisle. The three of them were all smiles and it was such a sweet moment to see mom and dad each turn to Kirsten and steal glimpses of their daughter as the walked down the aisle together toward Alex. Their nephew stole the show when he got to the back of the aisle and threw the ring box on the ground – lol! They gave it back to him and he got it the rest of the way down the aisle – all dapper in his tiny suit. And Kirsten and Alex each had their moms do readings during the ceremony for a special touch. One of my favorite moments was when they were walking back down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Alex gave Kirsten a giant silly grin and she started cracking up laughing. They did this a lot throughout the day and it was beautiful to see how much they made each other smile and laugh and how comfortable and deeply they loved each other – enough to be totally themselves and embrace being goofy together.
Wedding Portraits at The Dennis Inn
Kirsten and Alex opted not to do a first look because they wanted that special reveal moment during the ceremony. And it was an incredible moment! So after the ceremony we did their full bridal party photos (we had already taken separate photos of the guys and the ladies before the ceremony – this is a great way to save time during cocktail hour and still not see each other beforehand!), couples portraits, and family photos. Their bridal party looked absolutely fabulous and they were so much fun! But getting Kirsten and Alex alone for some couple’s portraits was my favorite. They constantly make each other smile and laugh and they snuggled together so naturally and were so full of joy. These two are just drawn to each other like magnets.
Cocktail Hour and Tented Dinner At The Dennis Inn
Cocktail hour took place on the lawn beside the tent and guests got to play corn hole, sign their guest book with polaroids(!), and enjoy apps and drinks in a classic Cape Cod setting. Then everyone moved under the tent for dinner and toasts. The tent was stunning, criss-crossed with bistro lights and accented by elegant floral centerpieces Designers Touch Florals with modern touches in the table numbers calligraphed on clear acrylic. All of the speeches were sweet and funny and touching, but Kirsten’s mom took the cake. She was hilarious and had the whole place belly laughing as she made a sweet and funny dedication to the bride and groom.
Dancing The Night Away – Inside The Dennis Inn
After dinner guests were led inside and Kirsten and Alex had their first dance and did their parent dances before the dance floor officially opened up. Guests packed the dance floor to dance along to tunes by The Cape Cod Slackers. These two gentlemen are absolutely amazing and they did covers of all kinds from hip hop hits by Biggie to country classics like Wagon Wheel. Their cake was a stunner from Cottage Street Bakery and the cake cutting was just one more example of how much fun these two have together – I mean – it doesn’t get much cuter. Congratulations you two! I absolutely loved capturing your wedding day love story! XOXO
