Carolyn and Kevin’s Chatham Bars Inn wedding took place on a sunny and beautiful spring day in May. Due to the pandemic, it was one year and a micro wedding later than they had originally planned, but they were rewarded for their patience with a lovely day celebrating with family and friends in exactly the way they had hoped for.

Carolyn is incredibly thoughtful and kind. She also works for an event venue and we originally met as fellow vendors in the wedding and event industry. So, I was incredibly honored when she reached out about her wedding. And the team she put together for her wedding day was full of incredible talent and genuinely wonderful wedding pros who I’m proud to call my friends. It was so much fun working alongside such a great group of friends all day. And it was even more special because the wedding took place in mid-May and it was the first wedding back for many of us after a year of micro weddings, postponements, and cancellations due to Covid. This was a special one for a special couple and I’m so happy I got to be part of it.

Getting Ready for Their Chatham Bars Inn Wedding

Chatham Bars Inn is a gorgeous luxury resort on Cape Cod and offered plenty of beautiful options for Carolyn and Kevin to get ready with their friends on the morning of their wedding. Carolyn and the girls relaxed in cute lace-edged dusty blue robes as they had their hair and makeup done. Then they went out on the veranda of the bridal suite to pop some champagne before getting into their dresses and heading to the church. Although Carolyn had all seven of her girls with her for hair and makeup, she chose to have just her mom and best friend help her into her dress and veil. Then she was able to surprise her ladies with a reveal of her completed bridal look. It was so much fun to see their reactions and Carolyn looked absolutely amazing in her Oscar de la Renta gown.

Kevin is friendly, laid back, and a salt of the earth kind of guy. He’s also an incredibly hard worker and he is completely and utterly in love with Carolyn. You see it in his face every time he looks at her. They’re such a great couple! Kevin got ready in one of the cabins at the Inn along with his groomsmen. He wore a navy tux with black lapels for a modern twist on a classic look – fitting perfectly into the theme of their day: “Classic…but make it modern.”

Cape Cod Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony was lovely and so emotional, even though these two were already married in a micro-wedding last year. It speaks to the depth of their love and to the importance of getting to share that love and commitment in front of family and friends. I think the whole place held their breath in awe for a moment when Carolyn first entered the church on the arm of her dad. And the clapping and cheers as she and Kevin walked back down the aisle together made it clear how just loved these two are.

Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Portraits

After the ceremony we headed back to Chatham Bars Inn for portraits around the property. The sunshine was beautiful and the spring flowers and greenery around the main building made for the perfect backdrop for family photos and a round of wedding party portraits. We then headed to the beach with Carolyn and Kevin for some couples portraits in the sun and sand.

Wedding Reception With Hot Mess Band

As an event consultant, it’s not surprising that Carolyn has a love for party planning. She grew up with her mom loving to host parties, and Carolyn gets a lot of her love for events and the way they bring people together from her. She explained that her mom is famous for bringing a favor wrapped with a bow everywhere she goes. So it was no surprise that Carolyn and her mom planned an absolutely gorgeous and personal event with lots of sentimental touches – including hand-blown glass ornament wedding favors packed in a little white box and wrapped with a bow!

Carolyn was really close to her grandmother and to honor her and keep her memory close throughout the day, she pinned a small charm onto her dress that once belonged to her grandmother. She even brought along a beautiful silver tray of her grandma’s to use for styling her details. Her mom also had tiny glass angels hidden into the floral centerpieces as a subtle reminder that Carolyn’s grandmother was celebrating with them in spirit.

And the party was so much fun! Hot Mess Band kept the dance floor packed. Friends and family danced the night away and sung along with the band. The party continued even after the wedding ended, with a club-style after party just across the property at the Inn. The after party featured photo booths, an all-white lounge area, and neon-inspired uplighting and decor. It was a wedding celebration well worth the wait! Congratulations Carolyn & Kevin!!
