This beautiful Lyman Estate garden wedding was a dream. Tali & Matt carefully & thoughtfully designed every detail to showcase not only the venue, but their own favorite colors, foods & traditions. They were married at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, Massachusetts, which was built in 1793 and is a National Historic Landmark. (You might recognize it from it’s feature in the 2019 film “Little Women”).
Tali and Matt are college sweethearts who became good friends before things ever got romantic. Tali shared, “We met our freshman year of college as lab partners in chemistry class at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). We were just friends the first three years of college, but when I studied abroad in Greece we talked almost every day and realized we had that extra special connection. We started dating our senior year of college and the rest all came naturally after that.”
After college Tali lived in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston and she and Matt continued their relationship. They soon moved in together and got their ridgeback puppy Ava. The two love the history and classic New England vibes so easily found throughout the city. So it only made sense that Matt would pop the question in Boston!
Lyman Estate set a beautiful backdrop for their outdoor wedding, as you’ll see in the photos below. Their palette was soft neutrals & greenery with accents of lavender, Tali’s favorite color. You’ll see lavender sprigs throughout their whole day, and I thought it was such a meaningful touch. Tali explained where they pulled their design inspiration from: “We let the historic and garden components inspire most of our choices – the plant centerpieces in aged pots, the champagne seating chart with scrolls for escort cards in very vintage-inspired glassware, with greenery everywhere, and lots of heirloom and jewish touches throughout. The whole event was designed to feel like a summer garden party, highlighting the beautiful gardens at Lyman Estate.”
GETTING READY AT LYMAN ESTATE
Tali got ready for her special day in a beautiful, bright room with garden floral prints on the wall. Her bridesmaids wore soft lavender color dresses as they helped her slip into her Maggie Sottero floral overlay wedding dress. After putting on her finishing touches, Tali did a reveal with her bridesmaids, and their reactions were priceless. The love & support they have for her was beautiful to see.
LYMAN ESTATE GARDEN WEDDING FIRST LOOK
Once Tali & Matt were ready for their big day, Matt went outside on the lawn to wait for Tali. He faced away, looking across the greenery while his bride walked down the large steps towards him. She walked up behind him quietly and tapped his shoulder. Matt turned slowly, and immediately brought his hands to his face as he teared up seeing his best friend & fiance, finally as his bride.
We took some time after their first look to wander around the lawns of the Lyman Estate and take couples portraits together. The sprawling grounds and beautiful greenhouse perfectly captured the feel of their wedding day.
Tali & Matt’s pup Ava was the flower-pup! She is so special to them, and it was so fun to see her be a piece of their big day.
LYMAN ESTATE GARDEN WEDDING CEREMONY
Tali & Matt held their ceremony under a large, old tree at the Estate. White chairs were set up for their guests. Matt’s mother, Grace, made the chuppah for them, and they decorated it in lush florals and white drapes. They were married in a traditional Jewish ceremony, and after they said “I do”, they exited the aisle while their guests blew bubbles around them.
TENTED WEDDING RECEPTION
During the open-air cocktail hour, guests enjoyed strolling the grounds, sipping on signature drinks, and indulging in fresh seafood from the raw bar. Tali and Matt were excited to incorporate the raw bar because they love seafood and because it was a nod to their New England soirée. The “sip and be seated” escort display was made up of lovely champagne glasses arranged among lush greens and welcomed guests to find their seats written on personalized paper scrolls.
Under the sailcloth tent for the reception, they nodded to the greenhouse on the property with centerpieces made up of collections of potted plants in terra cotta and mercury glass. The plants included an array of greens like ivy and ferns, as well as fresh lavender. The beautiful green floral linens added texture and completed the garden party look.
Matt & Tali did a choreographed first dance, which was a big hit with their guests and kicked off all the joyous dancing at the reception. It was quite the party!
Tali & Matt had a beautiful wedding day they will cherish for the rest of their lives. It was such an honor to capture it for them.
