Marissa and Charlie held their wedding at the iconic Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel in Boston. They fell in love in Boston and got engaged in Boston, so it was personal and special to have their family and friends come and celebrate them in the city they get to call home.

Both Marissa and Charlie went to Boston College, but they didn’t actually end up meeting until their last day of senior year. They hit it off instantly and dated for 5 years. It was fate!

These two really poured thought and care into their wedding details. You can see below how their invitation suite had custom gold foil detailing throughout. And the line drawing of the Fairmont Copley added an elevated personal touch.

Another fun detail they included was actually a nod to their proposal story. The proposal took place in Boston Public Garden, and it went viral on Reddit. They got lots of quirky funny comments on the Reddit thread that they found hilarious. They designed their cocktail napkins to include quotes from some of their favorite comments from Reddit about the proposal. I love the sense of humor they have and how much they focused on fun and enjoying their day.

The classic, elegant, and iconic location of the Fairmont Copley for their wedding was absolutely stunning!

Getting Ready For Their Big Day

They started off their morning by getting ready at the hotel bright and early in their separate suits at the Fairmont Copley. Marissa got pampered by getting her hair and makeup done, while spending quality time with her bridesmaids. Mom made sure to be dressed before helping Marissa into her dress. This allowed us to capture iconic images and some sweet candid moments after she zipped her into the dress.

Charlie and his groomsmen relaxed in their suite before all the activities started for the big day. After hanging out and chatting, they got ready together. I love to see the groomsmen help each other during this portion of the day; they each helped one another with their ties and the images show a tight-knit friends group.

First Look on the Roof of the Faimont Copley Plaza

Marissa and Charlie opted to do their first look on the roof deck of the hotel overlooking the city of Boston with the Prudential Building in the backdrop. Charlie’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time did not disappoint. He was speechless, with the biggest smile on his face.

Doing their portraits before the ceremony allowed them to have intimate and quiet time together before all the festivities began. After their initial reveal on the rooftop, we headed to the Public Garden for more wedding day portraits.

Wedding Party Portraits

We had the bridesmaids and groomsmen join us at the Boston Public Garden for wedding party photos. The wedding party was such an awesome group with great energy! They were fun and joyful the entire day. We ventured around the Public Garden together, soaking up the sunshine and creating warm portraits together.

Marissa’s bridesmaids wore beautiful champagne-colored dresses that complimented the guys so well with their dark-colored suits.

Church Ceremony

We then crossed over to the church on Arlington Street. Marissa and Charlie really planned their day with so much intention. The church was only a few steps away from the Public Garden. This allowed them to have their wedding timeline feel so seamless throughout the entire day and there was no stress over logistics. They got to be fully present and totally relaxed all day long.

Once you enter the church, it is truly beautiful, with dark wood benches and an ornate altar. The simple green and white florals they used to decorate were a subtle complement to the architectural details inside.

The ceremony was lovely. with readings by loved ones. As Charlie left the church hand-in-hand with Marissa, he raised his fist in celebration. It was a completely unscripted moment and a reaction of pure joy—so sweet!

Wedding Reception at the Fairmont Copley

The reception space was lovely, with a mixture of high and low floral arrangements throughout the space. The florals highlighted the decorative high ceilings and pulled your eyes upward to the grand scale of the room. And they incorporated lots of candles, one of the best ways to create a romantic ambiance throughout the evening.

After their first dance they heard toasts from Marissa’s brother and Charlie’s sister. Family tends to always be important on wedding days, but these two are so close with their families, and their families are so close to each other, it was special to witness. In fact, Charlie and Marissa’s siblings joined them at the head table and their parents sat together at the same table for dinner. Their marriage truly was a union of families.

This wedding wouldn’t of had turned out so amazing without these vendors!
