Amelia & Jack’s sweet Cotuit Bay engagement session was already almost a full year ago! We met up at Amelia’s parent’s home there in Cape Cod last August to create some meaningful portraits of the two of them in a couple of their favorite places. We started in the back yard of Amelia’s parent’s home with gorgeous overcast views of the water and the fluffy texture of white hydrangea bushes. Then we went a few minutes down the road to the same beach where Jack asked Amelia to marry him. He popped the question on one of their “regular” walks, and had her family in hiding to document & celebrate the whole thing!
There’s something extra special about taking your engagement photos in places that you frequent. It adds a layer of meaning with so many memories and emotions wrapped up in the photos.
These two are college sweethearts who met during their time at Bucknell. I’m biased because Scott and I are college sweethearts as well, but these are my favorite kind of love stories!
We started the session at Amelia’s parents home with views of sailboats dotting Cotuit Bay.
The session time had to be adjusted on the day-of because we had storms rolling through. We moved the session up a couple of hours, and the rain held off just long enough for me to start driving home afterward. Perfect timing! The overcast day made for soft skies and waters and ended up working out so well.
Amelia chose a blue and white dress, which was beautiful and played nicely off of the Hydrangea in the garden. Talk about a quintessential Cape Cod feel!
For the second half of our session, Amelia and Jack changed into a more casual look.
We embraced all the beachy New England vibes as these two played and ran in the sand at their Cotuit Bay engagement session. Amelia’s cozy Summer look, complete with lightweight sweater and white pants, worked perfectly for a relaxed coastal vibe. We kicked off shoes, and enjoyed the overcast afternoon on the beach.
These two are so comfortable and cute together. Jack loves making Amelia laugh, and they break into smiles as they look at each other. They were up for playful shots in the sand and were so much fun to photograph. I am really looking forward to their Cape Cod wedding at the Oyster Harbors Club in the Fall.
In the meantime, what a joy it was capture their engagement session in the place that is so special to them both. Can’t wait for September!
