Sophie & Josh were married at the Langham Hotel in Boston. But they first met when they were just 12 years old. The definition of childhood sweethearts! They started dating at 19, and have been together ever since.
When Josh decided to propose, he planned a beautiful day for Sophie. They got massages at the spa, and then came back to their apartment, where Sophie’s mom (who is a florist) had filled their apartment with flowers. Peonies, to be specific, which are Sophie’s favorite flower. She had really wanted a small, intimate proposal, so this was perfect. Of course, she said ‘yes’ and then they spent the evening at dinner with family to celebrate!
When these two reached out to me to photograph their celebration I knew it was going to be a special day!
Getting Ready at Langham Hotel
They got ready in different rooms at the venue with their closest friends and family. Sophie’s mom helped her slip into her gorgeous Vera Wang wedding gown. And she arranged all the florals for the big day. Then Sophie did a bridesmaids reveal, and it was such a cute moment for the friend group!
The First Look
We got to do their first look outside at Post Office Square. The location was still lush despite being mid-October! Sophie and Josh included their close friends & family as onlookers for the first look, and it created a really special environment for the moment! And of course, Josh was in awe of his bride!
We walked to the Langham Hotel for some indoor photos afterward because it was rainy and cold this day. The interior has such ornate and historic details that worked perfectly for their portraits.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was held on-site under chuppa. The sister-in-law did an amazing job as officiant, sharing sweet memories and well wishes during her reflections in the ceremony. Everyone attending was so emotionally invested in celebrating this moment with the bride and groom. It was really beautiful to capture.
Reception at The Langham Hotel
This venue was a wonderful place for the reception! It’s a historic hotel that was formerly the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. It’s been completely transformed into a luxury hotel, which perfectly complimented Sophie and Josh’s vision for a black tie event. They had a black and white theme. It was stunning and elegant, with a minimalist approach to much of the design. They included pops of texture with lush florals to complete the aesthetic.
The reception was held in a modern ballroom. The look was super romantic with uplighting, abundant flowers, and hundreds of candles. Each of their grandmas gave blessings during the evening, which was really special to document. Both of their moms and brothers gave toasts that had the room laughing and crying.
The newlyweds had a choreographed first dance and then brought everyone out on the dance floor for a short dance set before dinner. I loved how it set the tone for a fun party throughout the evening. The band kept the dance floor packed after dinner too!
It was a beautiful day at The Langham Hotel! I was so honored to be their Boston Wedding Photographer!
