With the breathtaking backdrop of the New England Aquarium’s waterfront venue, we envisioned elevated, preppy, seaside wedding inspiration. The New England Aquarium offers a beautiful tented reception space and a patio overlooking the water for your ceremony and cocktail hour. It’s a seaside wedding oasis in the heart of downtown Boston complete with views of the city skyline!
I had the pleasure of working with an incredible team of vendors, including the talented and sweet Renee of Urban Soiree, to bring this New England Aquarium wedding inspiration to life. Renee led the design and vision and pulled together an incredible team that captured the quintessentially New England feel of a summer seaside wedding, without overtly nautical motifs. The idea was to more subtly hint at the preppy and nautical for an elevated feel.
Newlywed Style at the New England Aquarium
Our sweet bride looked stunning in a modern high-neck gown by Peter Langner. The oversized knotted bow and open-back of the dress made for a chic look, while the tone-on-tone pattern on the dress added just the right amount of texture to the look. To keep the bridal style modern and clean, Jenny Luu her makeup light and natural, with a lovely chignon that swept her hair back in for smooth effortless look.
Next, our groom was dressed to the nines in a dapper blue suit with a slim modern cut. The blue is not quite navy, giving a nod to summer and the ocean. He paired it with a coral tie that perfect accent that tied into the wedding aesthetic.
Preppy Seaside Wedding Details
The florals were whimsical and evoked visions of bright corals and tropical fish. The arrangements by Artistic Blossoms featured pops of orange and yellow and included layers of texture that perfectly complemented a modern tablescape with crisp subtly-striped linens and clear pebble glass chargers.
Last but not least, the invitation suite and menus, with custom crest and modern typography mixed classic and modern for a unique look. Place cards in coral gave the tablescape a pop of color that tied in the overhead floral arrangement. Even the napkin rings were chosen intentionally to evoke bubbles and water.
