As seen on Boston Weddings Magazine.

Lauren and Mike decided to hold a backyard micro wedding when Covid forced them to postpone their original plans for a destination wedding in Montreal. Then they invited a small guest list of just under 20 people. The resulting day was one full of beauty and joy.

Finishing Touches For Backyard Micro Wedding

Lauren went to have her hair done earlier in the day at Steller Salon & Apothecary. Then she finished getting into her dress and applying the finishing touches to her hair and makeup in her very own bedroom – one of the lovely benefits of having your wedding at home. She was helped by three of her best friends and bridesmaids, as well as her mother. They peeked out the second story window as family started to arrive for the ceremony. Even though Mike was just a room over with his son, Lauren and he didn’t see each other before the ceremony so there would still be a wonderful reveal moment when she walked down the aisle.

Even though their destination wedding was postponed, I styled their gorgeous invitations in honor of their original day and plans. It was a gorgeous suite with beautiful watercolor crest and painting of the church and it was important to Lauren to capture it, even though the information was no longer correct. I loved being able to help commemorate their original date, and original plans, and then document their plan B as they focused on their love.

Intimate Wedding Ceremony At Home

Mike and Lauren used their wedding as a great motivator to finish some projects in both their front and back yards. Mike even put up the arch in their front yard that served as the perfect backdrop for their ceremony and that we went back to for newlywed portraits as well! In additional to the fresh landscaping, Fiori decorated the arch with stunning floral installations full of vibrant colors perfect for late Summer and a nod toward the onset of Fall. Mike’s son acted as Best Man and was in charge of the rings. They exchanged vows as family and a few close friends watched from the driveway.

Backyard Micro Wedding Reception

After the ceremony all of the guests headed into the backyard for drinks and apps while Lauren and Mike stayed out front for some couples portraits. It was important to both of them that Mike’s son be included in some portraits as well as they were not only celebrating a new marriage but the the three of them as a new family as well.

After portraits the couple joined their loved ones on the back deck and Mike gave a celebratory toast. We took family portraits and everyone mingled together for cocktail hour. Later, they all sat down at a beautifully adorned table for a delicious al fresco dinner catered by Chef McFall.

Congratulations Lauren & Mike! XO
