This couple and their Nautical Oceanview wedding were an absolute joy! From the beautiful white rose floral arrangements and wedding party in classic shades of blue, to the saber cake-cutting and heartfelt first dance, this waterfront wedding was uniquely perfect for Flynn and Ian.
The Couples Love Story:
Flynn and Ian shared with me how much they love the ocean:
“Ian and I always knew we wanted to get married on the water so when we found a spot near Boston (our home city) with a waterfront view, we knew it was the place. We both love the water, relaxing on the beach, and Flynn is pretty much obsessed with anything nautical.”
Even the couple’s engagement took place on a waterfront! On an annual trip to Block Island over the summer, the couple met Flynn’s family on a dock for pre-scheduled family photos. Ian took the opportunity to pop the question then and there – surrounded by Flynn’s family, and conveniently documented by the family photographer!
After the proposal, I had the pleasure of working with Flynn and Ian for their engagement photos. And despite how handsome this wonderful couple is, their golden retriever named Tanner stole the show and was an absolute star during their engagement session! As a Massachusetts wedding photographer, I love showcasing the special things that make a couple unique – especially their beloved pets!
Getting Ready:
The couple got ready with their respective wedding parties on the morning of their big day! The bridesmaids wore baby blue satin matching pajamas, while Flynn looked stunning in her white pant suit pajama set with slippers. You could tell what a close friend group she had, and it was fun to capture their connection. Flynn also choose to do a first look with her bridesmaids before formal photos, and their reaction was priceless!
We did formal photos after getting ready for their Nautical Oceanview Wedding, so that after the ceremony & couples portraits – they could get right to celebrating with their friends! I help all my couples create a cohesive, seamless timeline that is catered to their priorities – while also factoring in what’s best for lighting & images. I love that part of the process!
Nautical Oceanview Wedding Ceremony:
You’re not ready for this meaningful ceremony!! Ian and Flynn had such a touching moment as she was walking down the aisle. And it was so special to see them surrounded by friends and family while they committed their lives to one another.
The deep blue of the groomsmens suits and the baby blue of the bridesmaids was the perfect compliment to the green lawn where they had the ceremony. And it wouldn’t be a Nautical Oceanview wedding if it wasn’t directly in front of the water. It couldn’t have been a more perfect view for Ian & Flynn.
Couples Portraits:
After the amazing ceremony, we snuck away for some couples portraits by the water. The newlyweds were absolutely GLOWING from becoming husband and wife, and I love documenting that post-I-Do glow.
Nautical Oceanview Wedding Reception:
Fast forward to the wedding reception, and that special something for Flynn and Ian on this occasion was the music:
“The band was also very important to us, one of the members, Izzy Malek, plays on Block Island, which is our favorite summer destination. We wanted to have great music to get friends and family out on the dance floor and we love live bands. Given the fact we have lived in a few different states, we’re excited to get all of our friends together!“
Flynn and Ian, I’m so very happy to have been present on your special day, and wish you the absolute best!
