When Mikaela & Danny started planning their wedding at Beauport Hotel, they knew they wanted an elevated Nautical theme. It was a nod to their many summers on the beach with family & friends. What they did not expect was waiting an extra 686 days for their wedding.
As a Massachusetts wedding photographer, I saw first hand how many couples had to delay the day of their dreams when the pandemic hit. It was a difficult decision for many, and Mikaela & Danny adapted like pros. They postponed until they could safely gather with their friends and family to celebrate their marriage.
Needless to say, when this day finally arrives, everyone was SO excited to get to celebrate the bride and groom at this stunning wedding at Beauport Hotel.
Getting Ready at Beauport Hotel
Mikaela and Danny opted to get ready separately, and see each other for the first time at the alter. As much as I love first looks, I’m always a fan of each couple planning a day that feels like a dream to them! And these two wanted that magical moment of seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony.
They got ready for the day at the hotel, with their friends and family. I never get tired of seeing the love & support my couples receive on their big day – and this was no exception.
The bride wore a stunning dress with ruffled layers that flowed in the breeze, and perfectly aligned with the vision for elevated nautical looks on their day.
After the groom & groomsmen were ready, he snuck out on the beach for some wedding party portraits before the ceremony. But saved the group photos for after the ceremony!
Waterfront Ceremony
The bride and groom wanted the water to be front & center during their wedding, so they planned their ceremony on the deck at the Beauport Hotel. It was a gorgeous, sun-soaked ceremony where they did a sand ceremony to signify the joining of their two hearts/families. I loved that really sweet idea. It was perfect for their beachside venue and beach-inspired theme.
They had a calm sea breeze with seagulls flying overhead while they said “I do” and became husband and wife. You could feel the excitement from all their loved ones. The 686 day wait was finally over!!
After their ceremony, we went down to the water for family, wedding party and couples portraits. I never get tired of shooting near the water as a New England photographer. The most stunning backdrop!
Reception at Beauport Hotel:
Every element of their reception was carefully thought out. From the custom napkins with a nod to how long they postponed the wedding, to the chocolate seashells at the place settings. The whole look was so cohesive and intentional.
Mikaela’s Dad gave an emotional, & really lovely welcome toast, at the start of the reception. And the siblings did a great job toasting as well. Keeping everyone laughing, and then crying, with the touching stories they shared about Mikaela and Danny’s love for each other.
Then the newlyweds cut their cake, and the dance floor opened. And let me tell you…what a dance floor!! It was packed throughout the night! The crowd loved dancing. Their friends were so much fun – they even brought along a bunch of cardboard cutouts of Danny’s head that had featured at the bachelorette party and were waving them on the dance floor.
I absolutely loved everything about this wedding at the Beauport Hotel, and feel so privileged to capture the long-awaited nuptials for Mikaela and Danny! I wish you two nothing but the best!
