Sam and Maggie’s Cape Cod wedding weekend couldn’t have a more romantic and adventurous background. Their love story began as each were backpacking separately around Europe. Maggie is from the US, and Sam is from Australia and these two clicked immediately when they met. Sam even changed some of his travel plans to spend more time with Maggie as they traveled. They managed to have a long-distance relationship for years before Maggie moved to Australia.

They opted for a Chatham wedding because this is a place Maggie has visited since childhood. Sam spent most of his time in the US there as well, when he’d go visit Maggie. So, it was the perfect spot to for them to tie the knot.

The couple lives far from their friends and family in the US, so they felt it was crucial to hold a celebration in America. They were incredibly grateful to have so many of their loved ones gather in one stunning location. The bride found inspiration for their Cape Cod wedding weekend from the Cape’s natural beauty. Its charmingly rustic “old cape” vibe, along with natural timbers, overgrown greenery, and beach treasures, was the ideal setting for such an occasion.

The Wedding Weekend

Welcome Party

The Cape Cod wedding weekend began with a welcome party. On Friday, the guests joined the couple and their families for an al fresco welcome party at Stage Harbor Yacht Club. The highlight of the evening was the pizza truck and signature drinks. Both AUS and USA flags were all around the venue, and everyone enjoyed watching the sunset over the bay.

Maggie, wore a bright, patterned dress with lobsters on it, a perfect way to depict the miraculousness of a Cape Cod wedding. Before the guests arrived, the couple had a quick portrait session on a beautiful and cloudless day. The gentle breeze blowing off the water created a stunning backdrop for their photos.

Getting Ready

Maggie spent her wedding day morning getting ready at her parents’ home in Chatham with her parents, sisters, and sister-in-law. She loved the idea of getting ready at home, as it added to the sentimental value of the occasion. It was a great way to create memories in a place that was already so special to her. Sam and his family who were able to join fromAustralia got ready at a perfectly appointed AirBnb close by.

One of the most touching moments of the Chatham wedding was when she revealed her bridal look to her father. Then Maggie headed to her first look with Sam. Sam got ready at an Airbnb located down the street from Maggie’s parents’ home.

First Look

We took these photos at a scenic beach nook in Chatham, just around the corner from Maggie’s parents’ home. Stunning views of the inlet surrounded Maggie and Sam, along with sailboats in the background. The day was beautiful, so it was the perfect setting to capture candid and authentic moments between the two. They were giddy to see one another and take each other in! After the couple’s portraits, their family joined them for photos.

Ceremony

Maggie and Sam’s ceremony was heartfelt and personal as they had written their own vows. Their vows made everyone both laugh and cry. The couple exchanged the vows on the venue’s lawn, with stunning ocean views. The guests sat uphill, and others stood on the deck above to witness the couple saying their “I do’s.” Maggie’s father escorted her down, and everyone cheered as the couple kissed and made their way back up the aisle as husband and wife.

Reception

The reception at this Chatham Beach and Tennis Club wedding fully embraced the Cape Cod atmosphere. There were freshly shucked oysters served during the cocktail hour, and guests enjoyed great views from the elevated deck. Maggie and Sam snuck away for some sunset portraits before transitioning to dinner under the tent.

The inspiration for the bridal decor was the coastal palette of pale blue and green tones, with blue patterned napkins and blue glass chalices on the tables. The tables were adorned with collections of colored glass bud vases for the florals. The family gave heartwarming toasts as the sun was going down, and the candlelight warmed up the tent. The evening continued inside the venue with the couple’s First Dance, parent dance, and a dance party that lasted throughout the night.

Maggie and Sam’s Cape Cod wedding weekend was personal, thoughtful, and unique while perfectly capturing the essence of coastal New England. It was a great pleasure to document their love story.
