Lucy and James were married at Brooklyn Heights Casino on a surprisingly warm November day, with plenty of sunshine to brighten their wedding. Their love story began back in college at Davidson, but it was in the bustling neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights where they truly found their home together. James popped the question on the iconic Brooklyn Heights promenade, followed by a celebratory gathering with friends at a nearby bar, marking the beginning of their journey toward marriage. Their wedding festivities were all focused on welcoming their family and friends into their Brooklyn Heights neighborhood and celebrating their lives together there.
Getting Ready
As the day began, Lucy got ready at One Hotel Brooklyn, while James prepared at the historic Brooklyn Heights Casino. Lucy and her bridesmaids enjoyed a cozy moment together relaxing in sweaters before getting into their forest green dresses. Meanwhile, James and his groomsmen got ready and then took a leisurely stroll along the promenade, soaking in the neighborhood vibes. Lucy slipped into her elegant Mark Ingram gown with stunning views of the NYC skyline as her backdrop. Her mom and two maids of honor helped her into her dress.
Wedding Party Portraits on the Promenade
The Brooklyn Heights promenade is a particularly special place for Lucy and James, so it was only fitting to take wedding party portraits there. Lucy and her bridesmaids took photos on the promenade outside of their hotel with the vibrant fall colors as their backdrop. James and his groomsmen took photos as they walked along the promenade and past his apartment on their way to the ceremony.
Cathedral Ceremony
Lucy and James exchanged vows at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Cranberry Street, surrounded by their loved ones. Lucy, escorted by her father, walked down the aisle with grace and elegance. The church was beautiful, with ornate architecture and icons. Readings by loved ones punctuated the ceremony, adding a personal touch.
Golden Hour Couples Portraits
After the ceremony, Lucy and James took a moment to capture couples portraits on the promenade as the sun dipped below the horizon. The warm glow of the golden hour and the bustling energy of the city provided the perfect backdrop for their love. It would hardly be a New York City wedding without some iconic photos with the skyline lit up as the sun went down. It got chilly as the sun dropped so we made sure to be quick and then head back to the warmth of their reception and cocktail hour.
Cocktail Hour & Dinner
Guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour at the Brooklyn Heights Casino. As a personal touch, Lucy and James chose their favorite drinks to serve as signature cocktails. The atmosphere was festive and warm as guests mingled.
Dinner was a romantic affair, with soft candlelight and warm bistro lights creating an intimate atmosphere. The design was a stunning take on fall, from the beautiful china pattern to the sculptural florals in yellows, oranges, and plum along the tables. Guests were served Southern-inspired cuisine as a nod to Lucy’s roots for another personal touch.
The toasts shared during dinner were all very sweet and funny. Guests toasted crystal glasses in the amber glow of candlelit tables. A good friend made their wedding cake, which Lucy and James cut shortly before the celebration at the reception began.
Celebrating at the Reception
The reception was truly a celebration of love with the newlyweds’ friends and family surrounding them. Talented groomsmen joined the band for a memorable performance, while Lucy changed into a party dress. Guests enjoyed live music and danced the night away!
Lucy and James’ Fall wedding at Brooklyn Heights Casino was a beautiful reflection of their love, friendship, and the vibrant spirit of their neighborhood. Surrounded by their nearest and dearest, they celebrated a day filled with laughter, joy, and unforgettable moments.
