Belin and Ross’s Fan Pier Park Engagement Session was perfect for these two, since exploring Boston is one of their favorite activities together. They met in college at Notre Dame, where they shared a love for mechanical engineering. Belin is originally from Philly and Ross is from Chicago, and they’ve made Boston their home.
Ross proposed by the iconic weeping willows in the Boston Public Garden on the way to (what turned out to be) a very fancy dinner reservation one evening. Before dinner, they met with friends who were in on the surprise at a nearby bar for a celebratory toast. And Ross and Belin’s parents were also in town and surprised her there to help them celebrate. He went above and beyond to make that day special for her, and when I met them for their engagement session, that love was very evident.
Walking the City
We started off our session in their local neighborhood, in the South End of Boston. They opted for outfits they would normally wear out and about, so they could remember this season authentically. Belin wore jeans and a button-up white blouse. And Ross wore a gray henley sweater with denim. The Fall colors were a main character in their session, and their outfits perfectly complimented the colors in the environment.
Fan Pier Park
After we wandered through their local neighborhood, we went to the pier. Photographing near the water can be such a beautiful element in any photo gallery, and this was no exception. They wanted sunset views of Boston Harbor, and it was every bit as beautiful as they had hoped. They had gorgeous sunset skies during golden hour.
Belin had the cutest knit dress and boots – perfect for a warm Fall evening. And Ross wore a complimentary neutral button-up shirt and chinos.
A Fun Prop
I’m not one for cheesy props, but I must say: I love when my couples choose to add in a special touch to their sessions. Belin and Ross brought along a bottle of bubbles and glasses for a champagne toast at Fan Pier Park, and it was a great way to mark the moment. We wrapped up their session with them sitting on the pier, enjoying a quiet moment together as an engaged couple. They’re so excited about their future. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this Summer at The Harvard Club!
