Laura and Scott’s tented Catskills wedding weekend was joyful, elegant, and simply stunning!
When Laura & Scott contacted me about being their Catskills wedding photographer at the Onteora Club, I was super excited. I knew the scenery would be breathtaking because the Club is nestled in the mountain range and the mountains and lake make for an unbelievable backdrop. And I was familiar with it because I had the honor of capturing another sweet couple’s micro wedding there in 2020 – check out Margaret and Dave’s celebration here.
Laura’s family home is in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of NY, so she feels closely connected to the place. And she happened to meet Scott through Camp Dudley, where he and her brother went each summer growing up. Presently, they live in Brooklyn, but with shared ties to the Catskills and upstate NY, the Onteora Club was a perfect place for them to get married.
Sunny Onteora Club Welcome Party
Laura & Scott hosted an al fresco welcome party and rehearsal dinner. It was held on a sunny Friday afternoon at the field house of the Onteora Club. And the views from the deck overlook the golf course, mountains, and lake. While the guests enjoyed cocktails, we snuck out for some quick portraits before they went back to party. Everyone enjoyed cocktails on the deck before heading inside for a lovely dinner. It was the perfect way to kick off their wedding weekend!
Getting Ready at the Onteora Club
On the day of their wedding, the weather gave us chills, with the gusty winds blowing throughout the day. Laura got ready with her mom, maid of honor, and best friends at the Onteora club. The girls celebrated the day by popping champagne while doing their makeup. The most emotional moment was when Laura’s mom helped her put on her dress. Laura looked stunning in the classic and elegant strapless gown. After hugging her mom and sister, she went downstairs for a fun reveal with all of her bridesmaids.
At the same time, Scott and the gents got ready in a nearby AirBnB. They relaxed and posed for some photos before changing into their tuxes. Scott’s dapper outfit complimented Laura’s look perfectly.
A Windy First Look
Next, we headed outside for their first look. The day was super windy, but thankfully Laura & Scott didn’t care at all – they were just so excited to see each other and to get married. We ended up with some truly beautiful portraits, along with some very windy outtakes that I included because they really capture what the day was like! The wind played cupid for the day as Laura and Scott kept snuggling each other for warmth! So, we started by capturing the views from the top of the hills overlooking the water. We then moved together towards the lake for more photos. Then we met up with the wedding party and Laura & Scott’s family back at the field house for another round of portraits out of the wind.
Catskills Wedding Ceremony in Quaint Stone Chapel
The ceremony was planned at the stone chapel just a few minutes down the street from the Onteora Club. The church was quaint and kept the atmosphere cozy. Guests were comfortably seated while Scott waited eagerly for his beautiful bride Laura. He was all smiles as he saw her walk down the aisle with her father. The family pastor led the ceremony, and Laura and Scott looked gorgeous as they sang together during the service. Following, they shared their first kiss as husband and wife. And all of their family and friends rejoiced and shared in the moment of love and happiness. After this, they waved goodbye as they drove off towards the reception in a cherry red Corvette.
Tented Catskills Wedding Reception
Guests started off the tented Catskills wedding reception under the cocktail hour tent adjacent to the reception tent. The couple treated their guests to a few different signature drinks, including a classic bottle of Guinness – a nod to their sweet dog! When it was time for their first dance, Laura & Scott surprised everyone. They had choreographed an entire routine, complete with a dip! Their dance had everyone energized and cheering and it led to a packed dance floor during the short dinner set the band played. As the sun was setting, I snuck out with the couple for a few sunset portraits. After heartfelt toasts by Laura’s parents and sister and Scott’s brother over dinner, the dance floor opened and the party really began. Family and friends danced their hearts out till the very end of the last song. All in all, the wedding weekend was a true embodiment of love, celebration, happiness, and joy!
Congratulations Laura and Scott! I wish you a lot of happiness in the years ahead. Thank you for inviting me to your Catskills wedding to capture your incredible love and amazing weekend-long celebration!
