Alyssa and John’s summer wedding in Newport was a perfect way to celebrate a love that began during high school summers spent together working at Nonquitt Beach. It started as friendship and blossomed so naturally into love that their parents knew they were going to date even before they did themselves! Once they admitted they had feelings for each other, everything fell into place and they’ve been together ever since.
A Beach Proposal
The proposal took place back at Nonquitt, the very same private beach where they first met and fell in love. It was an ordinary Wednesday evening and Alyssa had no idea John was about to pop the question. He told her they had a dinner date with friends to get her to skip her evening yoga class. Then, John coordinated with their friend to take photos and his brother to take video. Once they got to a spot on the boardwalk in front of the water, John dropped down on one knee and surprised Alyssa by proposing (We took their engagement photos there as well and it’s absolutely stunning)! She was thrilled and they met up with family afterwards to celebrate.
Summer Wedding in Newport
They wanted an outdoor ceremony by the water and loved the picturesque views at the Wyndham, as well as the stars dripping from the ballroom ceiling, so they decided Newport was the perfect fit.
Alyssa and John’s spectacular summer wedding in Newport was inspired by the Alyssa’s affinity for navy blue and white and a preppy nautical aesthetic. They brought together the perfect blend of simplicity and sophistication in their decor, with pops of gold and lush white and soft blue florals to finish the look.
Getting Ready at the Wyndham Newport
Alyssa and her bridesmaids had a relaxed morning of pampering as they sipped prosecco and had their hair and makeup done. Her intimate group of friends were upbeat and excited for her and made the morning so much fun. Later, her mom and her maid of honor helped Alyssa into her dress. She looked flawless!
John and the guys also got ready together. He wore a smart, fresh, gray summer suit that was ideal for a Newport wedding by the waterfront.
First Look At The Elms Mansion
To fully relish their cocktail hour and reception, Alyssa and John decided to have a first look. They picked a stunning location in Newport – the Newport Mansion, The Elms. The mansion boasts a vast lawn and features light-colored marble and limestone in a classic design inspired by French chateaus. Moreover, the scenery is complemented by a sunken garden at the rear of the property that served as a perfect backdrop for this summer wedding in Newport.
Alyssa and John shared a private first look, embracing each other and beaming with smiles before taking portraits together. They are just so very much in love and were so excited to see each other and be together – I loved the in-between moments with these two just as much as the posed portraits we created together. Then, the wedding party and family joined us for portraits on the lawn. The sun kept peeking through the clouds and despite it being a popular summer day in Newport, we had the place almost entirely to ourselves!
Summer Wedding Ceremony In Newport
The wedding ceremony took place on the venue’s lawn – a beautiful area with lush greenery. Alyssa and John exchanged their vows in a heartwarming ceremony filled with love and joyous tears. Alyssa’s father walked her down the aisle, which was a touching moment for both of them. As their Newport wedding photographer, it was an honor to capture these moments!
Summer Wedding Reception
Alyssa and John’s reception was a wonderful celebration of love and happiness. I couldn’t be more grateful that they selected me as their photographer and trusted me with their special day!
The reception space was stunning, with pops of gold and navy throughout the room and beautiful floral arrangements that led the eye to the ceiling dripping in stars. It was full of energy and laughter, with guests enjoying a delightful cocktail hour indoors before dinner and dancing. The couple’s first dance took place under the twinkling stars that dripped from the ceiling, adding to the romantic ambiance of the evening. Alyssa’s father gave a touching toast, celebrating the love that Alyssa and John share. And these two led the way and kept the dance floor packed all night long!
