Ryanne & Ethan’s Boston Public Garden engagement session was postponed earlier this year when they made the hard decision to postpone their wedding. Given that they were pushing back the wedding celebration by a year, they decided they’d like to wait to take engagement photos as well. Instead of a spring session, we got together in mid-October. It was a truly perfect Fall day in Boston for their session. It was decidedly worth the wait as we had beautiful light, relatively warm weather, and Mother Nature put on a show of beautiful skies and trees on fire with the colors of the season.
JFK Library Sunrise Engagement Photos
We began their Boston engagement session just before sunrise at the JFK Library on the water in Dorchester. This is a favorite spot of mine, but it was my first time there for sunrise. I knew we’d make this a quick stop because the building faces East. That meant that the sun would be direct and harsh as soon as it rose above the horizon line. Luckily, Ryanne & Ethan trusted me on this and we met up 15 minutes before sunrise for soft watercolor skies and glowy light.
The stark white walls, modern cement stairs, and black tinted glass of the Library make for a great blank canvas to wear bold colors. So, Ryanne’s burgundy dress was absolutely a perfect choice! I love how these two pop against the backdrop of the building! We had the place completely to ourselves the whole time. We dashed off 15 minutes after sunrise to head to the Boston Public Garden for part two of their engagement session.
Boston Public Garden Engagement Session
Ryanne and Ethan changed into new outfits for the Public Garden. Ryanne’s floral dress in cranberry was perfectly complimentary to the lush greens still in the park. And the rich jewel tones of her dress and Ethan’s sweater evoked all the Fall feels. As we strolled through the park taking photos, we were able to slow down and I was able to observe what a great couple these two are. Their connection was obvious and there was an instant spark between them whenever they locked eyes.
Ethan was always attentive to Ryanne, holding her hand, whispering into her ear between poses, and making her smile. And Ryanne shared how blessed they felt that quarantine had only deepened and strengthened their relationship. We ended their session over on the Charles River Esplanade. They danced and snuggled as the sun rose higher in the sky and the light bounced off the water. I’m more excited than ever for their Hamilton Hall wedding in Salem next Fall!
